Venue: Albany Hotel first floor, 225 Smith street, next to the Playhouse, Durban
Time: 18:15 p.m.

The summer season of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra starts on Thursday 16 February, and so do the pre-concert lectures, which have proved highly popular with concertgoers.
The lectures, which are organised by the Friends of Music, are given in the Albany Hotel, Durban, at 6.15 p.m. and end at 7 pm, in ample time for those attending to walk to the Durban City Hall for the concert beginning at 7.30.

The purpose of these talks is to introduce the compositions being performed that night and thus increase the enjoyment of those attending. The speakers give an entertaining and informative background to the music and provide musical illustrations of the themes to be heard in works on the programme.

The speakers are well known to lecture audiences, and they have shown in the past that they have humour and the light touch in discussing music.

Tickets for the lectures are R30 each and include tea, coffee and sandwiches, which are available from 5.45 p.m.
